The Great Beauty is one of the three Italian films that matches five of the corpus criteria (films that found success in each of the sample countries, present at the major international film festivals, supported with Eurimages funding and the Creative Europe Media program, frequently present in the programs of Italian cinema classes at international universities, winner of an international award). It premiered (in competition) at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and was also shown at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, as well as many other International film festivals. The film won the award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, as well as at the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.
