The Conformist is a political drama directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. The screenplay was written by Bertolucci, is based on the 1951 novel of the same name by Alberto Moravia. The film was a co-production between Italian, French, and West German film companies. This is the number-two longseller in France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and United States in the period 2008-2017.
